May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month!

All Classical Portland’s diverse playlist includes music by Asian/Pacific American composers and musicians all year round. During the month of May, we are recognizing Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by celebrating some of the most extraordinary contributions to classical music by Asian/Pacific American composers.

Guest Host Ed Goldberg will celebrate Sunday Brunch on May 2nd with the traditional Chinese song “Spring Flowers in the Moonlit Night on the River” played by Lang Lang and Fan Wei as well as favorites by Nkeiru Okoye and Sicong Ma.

Throughout the afternoon and into the evening, hosts Christa Wessel and Andrea Murray highlight Portland pianist Susan Chan, guitarist Xuefei Yang, and the traditional Korean song, “Arirang”.

The Concert Hall 

Host John Pitman shares a celebration of composers of Asian heritage. The program will include “Toward the Sea II” by Tōru Takemitsu, Unsuk Chin’s Violin Concerto, “The Stream Flows” by Bright Sheng, and more!

Host Andrea Murray will feature works by Karen Tanaka, Zhou Long, Chen Yi, and Chinary Ung.
