Amy Faust chats with flutist Joshua Arce. Born in Salem to parents who emigrated from Nicaragua, Joshua made it into the National Youth Orchestra just 4 years after picking up a flute for the first time. His passion for music led him to set a series of lofty goals for himself, all of which he achieved… until the pandemic prevented him from touring with the NYO. He’s now a virtual student at Princeton University after graduating from McKay High School earlier this year.
He would like to make sure we acknowledge his flute teacher, Sandy Norman, who continually inspired him to keep going, even after he thought he had reached the limits of his abilities. Clearly, he has not.
