On Deck with Emily Rumpca

This week we meet a 17-year old female tuba player. Emily Rumpca tells us about the physical challenges of being a 5′ 3″ tuba player. As women generally have smaller lung capacity then men, Emily also talks about how she manages to put the necessary air through this big instrument.
Emily is the tuba player in the Portland Youth Philharmonic and has also won Oregon’s State Solo Competition two years in a row.
