Event Details
Inspired by his own adventures in the Alps, Richard Strauss evokes nature’s power and majesty in a journey through crashing waterfalls, misty meadows, and furious storms. Featuring a massive orchestra of over 100 musicians, wind, and thunder machines, the new season debuts with the grand and awe-inspiring An Alpine Symphony. And Portland favorite Garrick Ohlsson leads an equally intense journey of the heart in Chopin’s First Piano Concerto, channeling the work’s melancholy grace with “a sound so lush it almost glistens” (Seattle Times). Conducted by Oregon Symphony Music Director David Danzmayr.
