The Fireside Social Orchestra presents “A Celtic New Year”, an old-fashioned musical celebration of seasonal tunes from yesteryear with an ensemble of 19th and early 20th century instruments directed by Phil and Gayle Neuman, featuring Mark McCormick, Cindy Markham, Laura Kuhlman, and guest bassoon soloist from Hawaii, Phil Gottling. This unique presentation of historical music and informative anecdotes will include the Scottish “A Guid New Year”, “The Parting Glass” and “Scots Wha Hae”, Turlough O’Carolan’s “John Peyton” and “The Landlady”, the bassoon solo feature “Mélange de Meyerbeer”, Henry Thacker Burleigh’s “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, the spooky “Netherworldly Outdoor Concert” and much more.
