All Classical Radio celebrates the 10th anniversary of On Deck with Young Musicians by following up with 10 of the musicians who were interviewed in the first season of the show. The series is hosted by All Classical intern Jahlysa Azaret.
Saori DeBruyn is an opera singer based in Eugene, Oregon. In this bonus “Where Are They Now” episode Saori shares her thoughts about her past interview, her career, and talks more about her special performance with her husband, conductor Jonathan Debruyn. Saori also shares advice for young musicians.

Hailed by Northwest Reverb as “a dynamite soprano,” Saori DeBruyn brings lots of energy and heart to all her characters. Saori’s recent performances include Zerlina in Don Giovanni (Cascadia Chamber Opera), Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus (Opernfest Berlin), Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte (Eugene Opera), and in the fall of 2022, Saori starred as ‘The Barmaid’ in the World Premiere of Keith Allegretti’s Good Country. Her concert appearances include the soprano solo in Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem with the Eugene Concert Choir, and the soprano solo in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle with the Dartmouth Glee Club. Saori received her master’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, and her Bachelor’s degree from Portland State University. She currently lives in Springfield, OR and in her free time, Saori enjoys cooking, sewing, taking care of her plants, and doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
