Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival & William Byrd Festival
August 3, 2023: Host Christa Wessel welcomes the Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival and the William Byrd Festival to the Roger O. Doyle performance studio.
Megumi Stohs Lewis and Sasha Callahan, violins; Charles Noble and Bradley Ottesen, violas; and Leo Eguchi, cello will represent the Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival in performances of works by Antonín Dvořák and Kareem Roustom. Mark Williams, Artistic Director of the William Byrd Festival, will be joined by 8 vocalists.

The Willamette Valley Chamber Music Festival is a dynamic festival of classical music concerts in Oregon wine country. Founded by violinist Sasha Callahan, cellist Leo Eguchi and arts and community leader Eve Callahan with a focus on blending vibrant new works with the established chamber music canon – all alongside the Willamette Valley’s world-class wine. WVCMF’s mission is to celebrate, educate and enrich the lives of Oregon communities through access to diverse musical performances, musicians and composers.

The First Annual William Byrd Festival was held in Portland, Oregon in late August, 1998. Conceived by Founder of Cantores in Ecclesia Dean Applegate and Dr. Richard Marlow of Trinity College Cambridge as a marriage of music and scholarship, musicologist and professor Dr. William Mahrt of Stanford University was asked to participate in initial planning sessions and prepare the Festival’s two inaugural lectures.
