Amy Faust gets to know Ella Dorsey, a versatile musician who plays classical bass with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony. A 15-year-old sophomore at Clackamas High School, Ella has grown up in a musical household with a dad who plays slap bass for western swing bands and a mom who performs with a variety of bands as well. After teaching herself to play several instruments at home, Ella surprised both her parents in the 5th grade when she announced that she wanted to play classical bass.
She’s happiest when dividing her time between classical music and writing, singing, and recording her own original songs. When Covid ends, she plans to be busy with MYS as well as performing with a reboot of her pre-Covid rock band.
