Amy Faust talks with Lily Belisle, a senior at Cleveland High school who (in normal times) plays both the piano and the clarinet with the Metropolitan Youth Symphony and her high school band. Growing up with a mom who teaches piano and has a master’s degree in music, as well as a former music educator father, playing an instrument was barely a choice in the Belisle household. But Lily has embraced it fully and appreciates everything about being a member of a musical family…she even loves taking lessons from her mom! For Lily, music is about connecting with others, whether it’s her family, her fellow musicians, or her audience.
