Today you’ll be introduced to Munich and its history on a panoramic tour featuring the Marienplatz, the Glockenspiel* and Olympic Park. Then enjoy leisure time to independently explore Munich’s historic area and the Christmas market. Tonight, get in the Christmas spirit with a festive concert at Allerheiligen Hofkirche.
Day 4: Tuesday, December 11, 2018 Munich – Innsbruck, Austria – Seefeld – Innsbruck
This morning you cross the border into Austria, while en route to the city of Innsbruck. Today, the choice is yours! Join a local guide to discover Innsbruck’s history, culture and popular attractions including Maria Theresien-Strasse, the Hofburg and the “Golden Roof.” Or, embark on a tour focusing on the city’s unique architectural structures including its famous ski jump. This afternoon
we venture into the mountains to the breathtaking Alpine village of Seefeld. Enjoy stunning views as you travel by train 3,600 feet above sea level to this charming Tyrolean town. Known as one of the
world’s great ski resorts, Seefeld is home to miles of walking trails, lakes, fine shopping, dining possibilities and pure fresh Alpine air. Warm yourself, meet the locals with a glass of schnapps, and enjoy a traditional carriage ride before shopping in some of the quaint village shops.
Day 5: Wednesday, December 12, 2018 Innsbruck – Salzburg
Journey through the Austrian countryside to Salzburg, a city filled with beautiful gardens and wondrous architecture. Upon arrival, enjoy a leisurely paced walking tour featuring the Mirabell Gardens, a filming location for The Sound of Music, and Mozart’s birthplace – the quaint Getreidegasse. Enjoy a free afternoon to mingle with the locals as you explore Salzburg’s Christmas markets featuring local crafts and traditional food & drink. Tonight an elegant candlelit dinner and concert at the centuries-old St. Peter’s Restaurant, located in the historic city center, awaits. Day 6: Thursday, December 13, 2018 Salzburg – Neuschwanstein,
Germany – Oberammergau – Munich
Begin your day with a stop to view Neuschwanstein Castle, the fairy-tale retreat of Ludwig II of Bavaria. Continue on your journey to Oberammergau, a picture perfect Bavarian Alpine village. Step back in time as you stroll the streets past old-world cottages and shops covered in colorful frescos.
Have some time to explore the village, perhaps shopping for the intricate woodcrafts the town is known for. Conclude your tour with a festive farewell dinner this evening.
